Many changes have taken place within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police since it first came to the Kentville area on April 30th, 1932. The success of the RCMP in the Annapolis Valley, since that time, is a direct result of the dedication and commitment of its members and the support it has received from the citizens of Kings County.

Working in Partnership: RCMP and COMMUNITY

In the 1990's a great emphasis has been place on Community Policing. This philosophy of policing and method of service delivery has revoluntionized the police world. Police departments are policing their communities by first addressing what the community perceives as its need and problems. A partnership was necessary and this was achieved by forming Community Consultative Groups and listening to many other voices of concern. The RCMP has a clear mandate to develop and implement WINTER PROGRAMS which will enhance its Community Policing Policy. .

On behalf of the staff and our volunteer groups at Kings Detachment, I would like to express our firm commitment to Community Policing and to the residents of Kings County.
