Oil Painting Classes              
Wednesdays 1 — 4 pm                    
New Minas Civic Centre

Fall painting classes are set to begin on Wed. Sept. 28 from 1:00 – 4:00 and will run until early in Dec. An open house will be held on Wed. Sept. 21 from 1:00 – 4:00 at the Civic Centre with the upcoming projects on display. You do not have to sign up for the whole series but are free to choose individual projects that appeal to you. The instructor will be on hand to answer any questions. You can register for classes then, by contacting the Civic Centre, or by contacting Debi Fitzpatrick at 902-798-5831 or by email at debifitzpatrick@eastlink.ca. You need to pre-register for classes so that the teacher has sufficient supplies on hand for everyone. Beginners are welcome in the classes.

This fall we will be sampling a variety of mediums in our painting classes. Our first project will be an oil robin on an acrylic and mixed media background painted on a 12”x12” gallery canvas.  Next we will paint an acrylic and mixed media wine and grape themed piece which you can choose to put on a small table or a canvas. Our third project will be a watercolour loon. Our last project is a grisaille landscape- an acrylic under painting with oil glazing on top.

Two seminars are also being planned. The first is an oil landscape with a little bench that is inked in and of course the ever popular Christmas Surprise Seminar- what will we be painting this time?

  1. Robin- Oil- Wed. Sept.28, Oct. 5, and 12 from 1:00 -4:00. Cost $60.00 includes classes, canvas, paints, and special supplies.
  2. Wine and Grapes- Acrylic. Wed. Oct. 19, 26, and Nov. 2 from 1:00 – 4:00. Cost for classes, paint, and special supplies is $50.00. Cost of table or canvas is extra.
  3. Loon- Watercolour- Wed. Nov.9 and 16 from 1:00- 4:00. Cost for classes, paint, and paper is $40.00.
  4. Grisaille Landscape- Oil glazing over acrylic. Wed. Nov.23, 30, and Dec 6 from 1:00 – 4:00. Class and paint cost is $50.00. 16 x20 gallery canvas- $20.00. 16x20 regular- $10.00
  5. Landscape With Bench Seminar-  Sat. Oct. 22 from 10:00-4:00. Cost is $40.00. Canvas is extra or you may bring your own in any size.
  6. Christmas Surprise Seminar- Sat. Nov. 19 from 10:00-4:00. Cost is $55.00.
