Recreational Painting
The New Minas recreation department is presenting a series of recreational oil painting classes on Wednesday afternoons. The series is designed to take a beginner painter to a more experienced level using birds and flowers as a subject. Classes are divided into individual projects with a growing level of challenge with each one. Projects may be registered for individually but if you are just starting out you will want to start at the beginning. The focus of the classes is on having fun painting together and going home with a nice piece for your home.
- SNOW BUNTING- Wed. Sept. 16 from 1:00 to 4:00. Cost- $20.00. Includes class, paint, prepared 8 x 10 board, color and written reference material.
- DOWNEY WOODPECKER AND BI-COLOURED TULIPS- Wed. Sept. 23, 30, and Oct. 7 from 1:00 to 4:00. Cost: $50.00. Includes 3 classes, paint, a prepared 11 x 14 board, colour and written reference material.
- PURPLE IRISES- Wed. Oct. 14, 21, 28, and Nov. 4 from 1:00 to 4:00. Cost- $65.00. Includes 4 classes, paint, a prepared 10 x 20 board, colour and written reference material.

The instructor will have brushes and some basic supplies with her at the classes
LATE FALL PAINTING CLASSES
WINTER MOUNTAINS
Wednesdays, Nov. 25, Dec. 2, and 9 from 1:00 to 4:00. We will be painting a lovely winter mountain scene using water mixable oil paints. The cost is $55.00 for three weeks of classes and includes your canvas, three classes, colour picture and paint. You need to pre-register by calling the recreation department at or the instructor – Debi Fitzpatrick at 1-902-798-5831.
CHRISTMAS SURPRISE SEMINAR
Join us for a fun Christmas painting day on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10:00 to 4:30. Cost is $55.00 and includes all project pieces, paint, class, and a catered lunch. Fun easier projects! You must preregister with the recreation department or instructor by Nov. 25.
WINTER PAINTING CLASSES
Regular weekly Wednesday afternoon oil painting classes are being planned from 1:00 to 4:00. starting on January 20. An open house drop in afternoon will be held on Wednesday, January 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 with the projects on display and the instructor present to answer any questions. Sign up is through the recreation department and is by project. Cost is $15.00 per week plus the cost of the surface. Paint is included in this price. Two weekend seminars are also being planned- one is an acrylic poppy pair on Friday January 29 from 7:00- 9:00 and continuing on Saturday January 30 from 10:00 to 4:30. A watercolour is being planned for Saturday February 27. More information will be available at the drop in afternoon.
