The Village Commission of New Minas is hiring a Village Clerk Treasurer.
This executive position reports to the Village Commission and is responsible for providing leadership to all departments of the Village, including Public Works/Water, Parks, Recreation, Administration and Facility. The Clerk Treasurer is responsible for continuing to maintain a positive, collaborative environment which is the foundation of the New Minas team culture. We invite you to apply if you have 5+ years experience in a senior management position with a municipal government, and working knowledge of municipal finance and accounting practices. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act of Nova Scotia. A degree in Business or Finance Administration will be considered an asset. NACLAA Certification will also be considered an asset.
The Commission is looking for a Clerk Treasurer who is eager to respond to the challenges of the position and guide the Commission in a direction which best serves the needs of its electors and business owners with a proven ability to be objective, compassionate and forward thinking. The successful candidate will have experience working with senior managers, stakeholders, local residents, funding and other agencies, as well as municipal, provincial and federal elected officials and their representatives. He/she must have proven organizational, analytical, problem-solving and project/time management skills, and have excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience writing professional business documents. An intermediate knowledge of social media and networking applications, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential requirements for this position.
This position offers a salary scale of $75,000 to $84,000, with an excellent benefits package and work environment. The Village Commission consists of five elected Commissioners who support a close-knit, very dedicated team of 20 full-time and 15 casual employees, who thrive on the value of team building, trust and employee unity.
